HipHopcrecy

HipHopcrecy is a cypriot hip hop amateur band created in October 2007.

Even though the band is fairly new, its members (Siopilos Afigitis, OL' Skool & K.) are far from strangers to the Hip Hop scene as is evident from their biographies below.

The songs produced by HipHopcrecy are mainly focused on social issues however there are also some uplifting and funky tunes amongst their work.

Since late 2007, HipHopcrecy has also produced some parodies for your entertainment which you can watch here

HipHopcrecy is always working on new songs and parodies, so be sure to check back regularly, enjoy!

Siopilos Afigitis

Siopilos Afigitis was born in London in 1979 and moved to Cyprus at the age of 8.

From early on he showed a special interest in poetry and compiled a collection of poems by the age of 16. Clearly influenced by hip hop and rap from the US and Greece and especially Low Bap anthems (primarily Active Member) he proceeded in recording an E.P album titled "To Treno" with three tracks ("To Treno", "Thripsala Zoi Mou" and "Paresthisi Skopias") all produced by X-Method and circularised by ALL RECORDS.

Siopilos Afigitis saw that through hip hop it was easy to express his feelings and views and make them accessible towards society. In 1999, Siopilos Afigitis was featured on John Wu's aka Mastermind's single "Eleftheria i Thanatos" again under the ALL RECORDS label and X-Method's production.

Siopilos Afigitis dropped off the map in 2000 since he left Cyprus to go to University in England. Primarily bittered by the development of hip hop into a "commercial, money-making machine" in both Greece and seeing that Cyprus appeared to be heading in the same direction he did not make any further albums.

He now lives in Cyprus and works in an office job. Siopilos Afigitis is watching the Cyprus Hip Hop scene closely and is pleased to see that things are moving towards the better thanks to the efforts of young people who love making music and expressing their feelings and opinions away from false dreams, and the pursuit of "material" wealth..

Ol' Skool

The next band member is OL' Skool. Born in Nicosia in 1979, half Cypriot and half Lebanese, Ol'Skool may be known to you from his DJing years in club Ekriksi in the early 2000s.

Sensing that the hip hop scene was becoming more commercialised, Ol'Skool strove to revive and plant the more "romantic" and real days of quality hip hop and RnB in the minds and hearts of the genre's followers .

After all, his name speaks for itself! His lyrics and style are influenced from hip-hop funky old school beats, Motown influences, soul, swing and jazz.

K.

The last band member, K. stays away from the microphone and front line but his talent in hip hop music production are a valuable ingredient.

K. was a DJ and one of the pioneers of bringing RnB to Cyprus since he produced one of the first RnB music shows on Radio One in 1993.

He studied audio engineering in the UK alongside Ol' Skool.

Amongst some of his numerous productions, one can find the piece "Open Production" which was ranked third in the London School of Audio Engineering.
